No drama on the high seas this time

Just dramatic scenery around the Lleyn Peninsula and through the Menai Straits between Pwllheli and Conwy.

My friends Mike and Louise Dellar were sailing around Britain in their well found and well maintained yacht, VELA, having recently retired, and they extended an invitation to their many sailing friends to join them at any time. Amazingly I was the only person who took them up on their offer.

I bought a combined train and bus ticket from Chester to Pwllheli to meet with them and we then sailed to Aberdaron where we anchored whilst waiting for the right moment to go through Bardey Sound, which can be terrifying at the wrong moment!

We spent a night at anchor at Porthdinllaen, one of my favourite places, where I was once holed up in my Catri 24 trimaran TARDIS for 3 days with weather so bad that it broke the tent poles on a friend's tent nearby.

Anyway, I kept a video diary on this occasion. Check it out here. The video is 1hr 23 minutes long and is the antithesis of a monohull misadventure: that turns out to be my most popular video to date.

Mike and Louise are now sailing in the Baltic, another sea that I sailed through in TARDIS.
