I am off to Henley-on-Thames for Henley Royal Regatta tomorrow, Monday, for the week in my capacity as head coach for Manchester University Boat Club.
Like the women's 2nd IV at Women's Henley a fortnight ago the 2nd VIII just failed to qualify on Friday evening. Unlike the women they had their best ever row, which is all they could have asked for.
The men's 1st VIII have drawn Imperial College (B), which is better than drawing IC (A) like we did two years ago in the first round. As they have qualified and our 2nd VIII haven't we know that they will be no pushover but we are well prepared and looking forward to the unique challenge that Henley Royal Regatta's match racing tradition presents.
