After a downwind sail along the Cornish coast from Fowey at speeds of up to 14 knots in a force 5 we then reached into Plymouth Sound at 17.6 knots in the fully laden Astus 20.2S with one reef in the mainsail. Safe as houses but thrilling nevertheless.
I shall be posting a video of our trip from Falmouth when I have finished editing it so watch out for that and I will also update this blog with all the fascinating details of a most enjoyable week, sailing in the West Country.
To celebrate the building of the 50th 20.2, AstusBoats have announced a Limited Edition Astus 20.2 Sport + trimaran with carbon mast, boom and bowsprit. The boat comes with red hull and grey deck and special, two-tone Pentex sails.
AstusBoats have also announced a 4% price increase from Sept 1st 2011 but as the Euro has fallen in value, this does not amount to much. The current prices are available on the AstusBoats.com web site and I will be updating the Ahoy-Boats price lists as soon as I can.
I'm off to Falmouth from where I hope eventually to sail to Dartmouth or even as far as Exmouth in the new Astus 20.2S.
If you want to join me to try the boat then please call me on my mobile 07985 043 981.
I hope to call in to Mevagissey, Fowey, Polperro and Salcombe and expect to have to take refuge for at least one day as it's looking like a windy week ahead! Should be exciting.
